When the new NBA collective bargaining agreement is complete, the New York Knicks will have to make a number of moves to get ready for the regular season. Due in part to acquiring Carmelo Anthony(notes) and Chauncey Billups(notes) during the 2010-11 NBA season, the team is short on players ready to make an impact in the coming year. The Knicks have two of the most expensive contracts in the NBA for this season; with Anthony owed $18.5 million and Amare Stoudemire(notes) owed $18.2 million

Mobley files discrimination lawsuit, report says

Former NBA guard Cuttino Mobley has filed a disability discrimination lawsuit against the New York Knicks, according to a report in the New York Post, claiming that the team directed him to doctors they knew would not allow him to play with a pre-existing heart condition. Mobley claims that he has been aware of his condition — a heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — from 1999, and that every previous team he had played for he simply required that he sign a waiver.  The Knicks, according to the lawsuit, sent Mobley to two cardiologists who were, per the lawsuit as quoted in the Post story, “both well-known opponents of allowing players with HCM to play.” According to the lawsuit, the Knicks did this to save $19 million and help their salary cap situation
