Chris Paul never asked for trade

Back in early July, when the free-agent floodgates got thrown open, the New York Daily News reported that New Orleans Hornets star Chris Paul felt that team owner George Shinn had "lied" to him about upgrading the team this offseason. Paul is under contract till the end of 2012 but the paper reported that Paul was unhappy with his situation there, which is likely what led to him saying in a speech at Carmelo Anthony’s wadding in New York City, "We’ll form our own Big 3," referring to himself, Anthony, and the big addition to the New York Knicks this offseason, Amar’e Stoudemire .

Nuggets and Anthony meet

Carmelo Anthony hasn’t exactly made it clear that he wants to stay with the Denver Nuggets recently, but the team would love to hang onto him. So Nuggets exec Josh Kroenke met up with Carmelo Anthony this past weekend in Baltimore, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski to try to sell the player on sticking with the franchise. The 30-year-old Kroenke, who also happens to be the owner’s son, will likely take over the team someday and got a firsthand test this past weekend while trying to show Anthony that it would totally be worth his while to take the three-year, $65 million contract extension that is on the table from the team rather than becoming a free agent next summer and moving to another team.

What do you guys think about this.

Nuggets exec meets with Anthony

Carmelo Anthony hasn’t made it clear that he wants to stay with the Denver Nuggets , but the team certainly wants him to stay. So Nuggets exec Josh Kroenke met with Anthony last weekend to try to sell him on staying, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski . The 30-year-old Kroenke, who is the owner’s son and is likely to take over the team someday, got a taste of the responsibility over the weekend as he presumably tried to convince Anthony to take the three-year, $65 million contract extension rather than become a free agent next summer. Wojnarowski notes that nothing final came out of the conversation.

Carmelo Anthony looks to be leaning toward leaving Nuggets

It doesn’t look like Carmelo Anthony is considering the Denver Nuggets ‘ three-year, $65 million contract extension, if sources of ESPN are accurate. According to ESPN, league sources say it is now a matter of when, not if , Anthony and the Nuggets will go their separate ways. One source told the site, "He’s going to make it real clear that he’s not coming back." Don’t go burning any bridges, Carmelo. Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke knows the situation, the site reports, and the concept of his team without Anthony after next season started to become real at the player’s New York wedding in June, where New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul (notes) , New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire (notes) and Anthony’s brother, Robert, publicly laid pressure on Anthony to leave Denver for New York.

Carmelo Anthony exploring New York option?

Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony (notes) is a free agent next summer and he has told friends that he’s "eager to explore playing" for the New York Knicks when his contract is up, according to CBSSports.com. However, the site reports that Anthony is also a little confused about what’s going to happen with the next collective bargaining agreement and that could lead to him signing the three-year, $65 million extension the Nuggets have offered him. Sources to CBSSports.com say that team owners are determined to "clamp down" on player salaries and player movement in the next CBA after all the free-agent nuttiness this summer.
